DSEF Presents Innovative Teaching Grants

On April 27 the Dripping Springs Education Foundation Prize Patrol made its rounds on all DSISD campuses, awarding $110,180 worth of Innovative Teaching Grants. A total of 27 grant requests were funded for innovative programs or projects to support higher levels of student learning. Teachers apply for the grants based on classroom needs for specific projects, then a committee of DSEF members reviews applications to determine which projects will be funded.

Below is a list of 2017 Innovative Teaching Grants.

Fundamentals of Real Estate Course, $6,415, Michael Lemonds (DSHS)

Mud Club for Everyone, $2,432, Mary Black and Katie Van Wyngeeren (DSMS)

Outside Learning … In Check!, $1,953, Mark Hamilton (WSE)

Equipment for STEAM-Based Art Curriculum, $3,230, Mary Black (DSMS)

Elementary Makerspace Mania, $8,000, Dru Robinett (SSE)

Twenty-One Days to EGGcellence, $2,661, Summer Norton and Kinder Team (RSE)

Making Music the SMARTboard Way, $6,424, Mark Britt (WSE)

Expanding FabLab Capabilities to Learn New Fabrication, $8,000, Jad Jadeja (DSHS)

Math Design Studio, $5,883, Kristina Vannoy (DSHS)

Play-Based Learning in Kindergarten, $1,500, Kinnison Bryan (WSE)

Penciling in their Potential, $2,156, Rachel Amrine (PHOTO) and Linda Atkinson (RSE)
